Last week I visited my parents in Cleveland. While sitting in the living room I heard my mother call me from the kitchen. Not hearing completely what she was attempting to communicate, I begin to make my way towards the kitchen. The closer that I got to the kitchen, the clearer her message was to me. The clearer the message, the easier it became for us to communicate. Looking back at this experience two things stood out. Having relationship with the one communicating helps us to position ourselves to better hear and relationship determines the value we put on what's being communicated. With God, we must put value on what He is communicating to us, enough value that we are sure to consistently be in a place open enough to hear clear and respond correctly.
