To Vote or Not to Vote...Ummm Probably Not

Well, it's a few weeks away from Election Day and I'm still debating whether or not I should even vote. I know people will probably try to convince me to vote. And hit me with the "It's your civic duty to vote" line or the classic "No vote at all is a vote for Trump" line. Or try to guilt trip me with the "Your ancestors fought for your right to vote" line.

Like many others, I have lost trust in the political system. I feel like I’m forced to vote for the lesser of two evils with this election cycle. Trump is an unapologetic racist and he has no clue what the hell he is doing. Clinton is corrupt and not trustworthy. The debates are a complete waste of my time. The countless presidential commercials are becoming more and more comical. And you expect me to vote for either one of these clowns??? Nah…Bruh.

Every election cycle, we hear the same ole sh*t and watch the same ole dog and pony show during election season. I’m just tired of being fed bullsh*t by the media and these career politicians. Supposedly, we are the “greatest” country in the world, but we have tons of REAL issues that need to be fixed. Our public school system is broken. Healthcare costs are continuing to sky rocket. The prison and justice system needs a complete reform. Race relations in this country are the worst they have been in recent years. Some of our cities look like 3rd world countries. Student loan debt is crippling all of us. But we ALWAYS have money for war, but no money for the things that REALLY matter. Yet, you expect me to vote so that these things can continue to happen??? Nah…Bruh.

This political system isn’t for us common folk. It was built for the ultra-wealthy to be successful and for their family to have indefinite generational prosperity. Think about it. Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton were super cool back in the day. Trump has contributed tons of money to Hilary’s prior campaigns as well as to The Clinton Foundation. The Clintons were guests at Trump’s most recent wedding. Their daughters are friends. Both families have been wealthy for years. And you expect me to trust either one of these clowns??? Nah…Bruh.

How I see it, the system has to be dismantled from its core in order for REAL change to occur. The movers and shakers of this system have been more corrupt and greedier over the years. We really need a viable third party that is about that ACTION. A party that will expose the country and all of the corruption embedded throughout it. We need someone who is willing to lead that party and not allow big money corporations to influence them, like some of these Democrats and Republicans that are currently in office.

Don’t get it twisted, I don’t have the “magical” answer to solve the country’s problems, but I think voting at the local and state levels will be a great start for real change. We have to hold these career politicians accountable for the "promises" they make to get our votes. We also have to be the leaders of our communities and not depend on a politician to make things better for us. We are the leaders and the change agent for our people.

I don't want you to think that I’m a "Negative Nancy" with this post. Yeah every politician isn't corrupted. And yeah every politician isn't out for themselves. There are actually a lot of good ones out there. However, myself and many others want REAL change in this country. Is that too much to ask for? Sadly, I’m not too confident that real change will ever come in my lifetime. I really hope I’m wrong, but only time will tell.

On a lighter note, check out this SNL skit poking fun at the last debate...It's a good laugh.
